TFT Little Legends and cosmetics: what carries over to your Mac

Updated on · The OS FIGHT TACTICS team

Move from your phone to a Mac and the same question comes up before any other: will my Little Legends still be there? They will, because a TFT collection belongs to a Riot account and never to the device drawing the game. That distinction matters more than usual right now: since patch 18.1, macOS is no longer supported by Teamfight Tactics, and plenty of players on EUW and NA assumed their cosmetics went down with the client. They did not. Here is what TFT cosmetics actually cover, how they are earned, and what becomes of them once you play on an Apple Silicon Mac.

What a Little Legend actually is

It is your avatar on the board: the small creature wandering between your units, taking the hit at the end of every lost round and carrying your health bar. It never fights, it changes no stat, it has no bearing on the result. Riot now files these avatars under the broader label of tacticians, with Little Legends as the original family alongside the other avatars released across sets. They all play the same role and live in the same collection.

The four kinds of TFT cosmetics

  • Little Legends and other tacticians: your avatar on the board, the one the seven other players see.
  • Arenas: your board skin and backdrop, purely visual.
  • Booms: the animation that plays when your units knock out the ones across the board.
  • Emotes: the icons you fire off mid-game.

None of them touch balance. They are visible, not functional. A player with a full collection and a player who has never bought anything hold exactly the same tools in a ranked lobby, which is precisely what lets Riot sell them without damaging competition.

How Little Legends are earned, and why they have levels

Little Legends come mainly from eggs bought in the in-game store and from pass rewards, with event giveaways on top. Each species exists at three levels: picking up duplicates of the same Little Legend moves it up a tier, which changes its size and its look. A level three grants no combat advantage either. It shows, it does not play.

macOS is no longer supported since patch 18.1, and the collection did not move

This is the backdrop every Mac player needs. Patch 18.1, which opens Set 18, moves Teamfight Tactics off Riot’s in-house engine and onto Unreal Engine, and that migration came with the removal of macOS support: no support, no fixes. Riot frames the removal as temporary and says it is working to support the system in a future update, with no date announced. The same patch also drops the oldest Android and iOS devices, the ones with the least memory. Server-side, though, nothing changed: no account is reset or deleted, and not a single arena or boom was pulled from anyone’s collection. Our article on the macOS removal in patch 18.1 covers what really changed.

What follows you from one platform to the next

  • Your tacticians, arenas, booms and emotes: the whole collection, available at first sign-in.
  • Your rank and your LP, shared per region: one ranked queue whatever the device.
  • Your pass progress and your purchases, attached to the account rather than the hardware.
  • Your friend list and your match history.

The machine is only a window. Android is still fully supported by Riot, and that is the build a dedicated launcher runs on an Apple Silicon Mac: you sign in with your usual account and the collection is right there, untouched. Our guide to the Riot account and cross-progression covers how that sync works in detail.

The one real risk: signing in with the wrong button

If your collection looks empty on your first Mac launch, it is almost never a sync failure. It is a second account. A lot of mobile players signed up through a “Sign in with Google”, Apple or Facebook button, and on a new machine you have to use that exact same button. Picking a different one does not find your account, it creates a fresh empty one with a starter Little Legend and no history. Sign out, try again with the right provider, and everything reappears. Our Mac installation guide walks through the sequence step by step.

A collection is worth looking at in full screen

There is a mundane reason to browse your collection on a Mac rather than a phone: size. Tactician menus, arena previews and boom animations are drawn in detail and get lost on a six-inch screen. On a launcher that runs the Android build natively on Apple Silicon, with rendering handed to the GPU, all of it fills the display and is navigated with a keyboard, without the sluggishness a generic emulator forces on menus. The rest of the differences are laid out in our comparison of the three platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Do Little Legends give any in-game advantage?

None at all. They are cosmetics: your avatar, its level, your arena, your booms and your emotes have no effect on stats, damage or shop offerings. A player who has never bought a single Little Legend holds exactly the same tools in a ranked game.

Did I lose my Little Legends when macOS support was removed?

No. Since patch 18.1 macOS is no longer supported by TFT, but the removal only concerns the game client: no account is reset or deleted, and the entire collection stays tied to your Riot account. Riot describes the removal as temporary and says it is working to bring the system back in a future update, with no date announced.

Is my collection the same on Mac, PC and mobile?

Yes. Tacticians, arenas, booms, emotes and pass progress are tied to the Riot account, not the device. They show up at your first sign-in on a new platform and update in real time.

How do you get new Little Legends?

Mainly through eggs bought in the in-game store, through pass rewards and during events. Duplicates of the same Little Legend level it up, which changes its look and its size without changing anything about the game.

Where are my cosmetic purchases stored?

On your Riot account, never on the machine. An item obtained from a phone is available on every other platform you sign in from, and it stays in your collection even if you never play again from the device you got it on.

Do my rank and my pass carry over too?

Yes. There is a single ranked queue per region, shared across every platform, and pass progress is unique to the account. Switching machines resets no counter.
