How to Install Teamfight Tactics on Mac: Step-by-Step Tutorial

Updated on · The OS FIGHT TACTICS team

You own an Apple Silicon Mac and want to run Teamfight Tactics on it, without tinkering or sketchy files? This tutorial covers the full installation of OS FIGHT TACTICS (OSFT Launcher), from checkout to your first match, in five steps and with zero technical knowledge required. If you are still weighing the different approaches (cloud gaming, emulator, dedicated launcher), start with our guide to every way of playing TFT on Mac, then come back here to set it up.

What you need before you start

  • An Apple Silicon Mac: M1, M2, M3 or M4, any model (MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iMac).
  • macOS 12 (Monterey) or later.
  • About 10 GB of free disk space for the engine and the game.
  • A Google account, used once to install TFT from the official Play Store.
  • Your usual Riot account (or a new one, created for free).

Intel Macs are not supported: execution relies on the hardware virtualization built into Apple Silicon chips. If that is your case, the possible alternatives are covered in the comparison guide linked above.

Step 1: subscribe and grab your license key

Head to macosfighttactics.com and pick your plan, monthly or yearly. Payment is securely handled by Stripe. Right after checkout, your license key appears on screen along with the launcher download link, and both are also emailed to you. Keep that key handy: you will be asked for it on first launch.

Step 2: download and install OSFT Launcher

Download OSFT Launcher from the link you received, then open the app. On first launch, the launcher runs its one-time engine install (the component that runs the Android environment locally), then asks you to paste your license key. This only happens once: every later update is automatic and included in your subscription.

Nothing is modified on macOS: the Android environment runs locally on Apple’s Hypervisor, and the game renders in OpenGL straight on your GPU.

Step 3: connect your Google account and install TFT

The launcher then asks you to connect your Google account, one single time. Teamfight Tactics installs automatically from the real Google Play, in the background: you get Riot’s official app, not an APK downloaded from some third-party site. Depending on your connection, the game download takes a few minutes.

Step 4: sign in with your Riot account

Launch Teamfight Tactics and sign in with your usual Riot account. Your progress, your rank, your Little Legends and your passes follow your account: a match played on Mac counts exactly like one played on PC or mobile, and the other way around.

Step 5: play your first match

One click on Play and TFT starts in fullscreen, on your keyboard. Controls are mapped out of the box and you can tweak the mapping on the fly, even mid-match. Welcome to the Convergence.

Stuck during the install?

  • Check that your Mac is an Apple Silicon model (Apple menu · About This Mac) and runs macOS 12 or later.
  • Make sure you have about 10 GB of free disk space before the engine install.
  • Key rejected? Copy it again from the confirmation email, with no leading or trailing space.
  • Still stuck? Describe your issue (installation, license key, payment) through the site’s contact page: support gets back to you quickly.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the full installation take?

About ten minutes in most cases: a few minutes for the OSFT Launcher engine install, then the TFT download from Google Play in the background, depending on your connection.

Do I need to download an APK or modify macOS?

No. TFT installs from the official Google Play with your Google account, and the Android environment runs locally without any system modification.

Can I install OSFT Launcher on an Intel Mac?

No. The launcher requires an Apple Silicon chip (M1 or newer), since it relies on those chips’ hardware virtualization, plus macOS 12 or later.

Do I need a new Riot account to play on Mac?

No. You sign in with your existing Riot account: progress, rank and cosmetics are shared across Mac, PC and mobile.

On how many Macs can I use my license key?

One subscription covers one active Mac. Cancelling takes one click and you keep access until the end of the current period.
