Riot account and cross-progression: play TFT on Mac without losing anything

Updated on · The OS FIGHT TACTICS team

It is one of the first questions players ask when they move to Mac: “will I get my account, my rank and my Little Legends back?”. The answer is yes, with zero manual steps. Teamfight Tactics runs on a single Riot account shared between PC, mobile and therefore your Mac: this guide explains exactly what syncs, how to sign in cleanly with OS FIGHT TACTICS, and the few login traps that can make you believe your progression is gone.

One Riot account, every platform

Unlike many mobile games that keep separate accounts per platform, Riot Games centralizes everything behind the Riot account: the same credentials work for League of Legends, Valorant and Teamfight Tactics, whether you launch the game from a Windows PC, an Android phone, an iPhone or a Mac. For TFT there is simply no “mobile account” distinct from the “PC account”: it is the same server-side data, queried by different clients.

When you play on Mac with OS FIGHT TACTICS, you are running the official Android version of TFT, installed from Google Play. You sign in with your usual Riot account, and the server recognizes you exactly as if you had just opened the PC client: same profile, same match history, same rank.

What syncs between PC, mobile and Mac

TFT’s cross-progression is complete: everything attached to your account follows you from one platform to another, in real time. In practice:

  • Your ranked tier and LP: a game won on Mac counts toward the same ladder as a game played on PC.
  • Pass progression (free or paid): experience earned on one platform credits the pass everywhere.
  • Your Little Legends, arenas, booms and emotes: the whole cosmetic collection is tied to the account, not the device.
  • Your match history and statistics, visible from any client or tracking site.
  • Your ongoing missions and events: a mission started on mobile finishes just fine on Mac.

There is nothing to enable and nothing to “link”: syncing is the default behavior of the Riot account. You can play a game on Mac in the morning, another on your phone at lunch, and find everything on PC in the evening.

Signing in to your Riot account on Mac

With OS FIGHT TACTICS, signing in works like on an Android phone: on the game’s first launch, the TFT home screen asks you to log in. If you created your account with a classic Riot ID (email address and password), simply use the Riot sign-in button. Installing the launcher and the game is covered step by step in our TFT installation tutorial for Mac.

The Google, Apple and Facebook sign-in case

Many mobile players created their Riot account through a “Sign in with Google” button (or Apple, or Facebook). In that case your Riot account absolutely exists, but it is backed by that identity provider: on Mac, use exactly the same button as usual. This is the classic trap: signing in with a different provider (or creating a brand-new Riot ID) does not “find” your account, it creates a second, empty one. If you see a level 1 profile with no Little Legends, log out and try again with the right button.

Checking that you are on the right account

  1. 1Open your in-game profile and check your Riot ID (the name followed by the hashtag, for example Name#EUW).
  2. 2Glance at your Little Legends collection: it should match what you own elsewhere.
  3. 3Check your current ranked tier: it should be identical to what PC or mobile shows.

Is the ranked ladder really shared?

Yes, and it is one of TFT’s most pleasant traits: there is a single ranked queue per region, common to every platform. PC, mobile and Mac players face each other in the same lobbies, with the same matchmaking. Your Iron, Gold or Challenger rank is therefore unique: earning LP on Mac is earning LP, period.

It also means playing on Mac never drops you into a separate player pool: you face the usual level of your region. The difference is comfort: on Mac with OSFT Launcher you get keyboard controls and fullscreen play, which helps in the moments where every second matters, like the carousel or last-second repositioning.

The small differences between versions

Cross-progression does not mean identical clients. The mobile version of TFT (the one running on Mac through the launcher) has an adapted interface and, depending on the period, some experimental game modes reach PC before they land on mobile. The core game is strictly the same: same sets, same champions, same patches shipped in parallel. Three tips for trouble-free cross-save

  • Write down your account’s sign-in provider (Riot, Google, Apple or Facebook) and always use the same one on every device.
  • Stay on your usual region: the account and the ladder are tied to a region (EUW, NA, and so on), which does not change with the platform.
  • Enable two-factor authentication on your Riot account: an account that holds all your progression deserves proper protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my existing Riot account to play TFT on Mac?

Yes. TFT uses a single Riot account across all platforms. On Mac with OS FIGHT TACTICS, you sign in with your usual credentials and immediately get your rank, your pass and your whole collection back.

Is my ranked tier the same on Mac, PC and mobile?

Yes. There is a single ranked queue per region, shared across all platforms. LP earned or lost on Mac applies to the same ladder as on PC or mobile.

Do my Little Legends and my pass sync on Mac?

Yes. Little Legends, arenas, booms, emotes and pass progression are tied to the Riot account, not the device. Everything is available from your first sign-in on Mac, and progression updates in real time.

I signed in on Mac and my profile is empty: did I lose my progression?

No. You most likely signed in with the wrong identity provider (Google instead of Riot, for example), which created a second, empty account. Log out, then sign back in with the button you normally use: your progression is intact.

Do I need to enable anything for TFT cross-progression?

No. Cross-platform syncing is the default behavior of the Riot account: there is no option to enable and no account linking to perform.
