TFT Keyboard Controls on Mac: Shortcuts, Keys and Mapping

Updated on · The OS FIGHT TACTICS team

The mobile version of Teamfight Tactics is built for touch: you tap the shop and drag units around with a finger. On a Mac, that is obviously not the point. With OS FIGHT TACTICS, TFT plays on keyboard and mouse, in fullscreen, with the same reflexes as the PC client. This guide covers the default keys, how the key mapping editor works, and the shortcuts we recommend adding to save precious seconds every round. If the launcher is not on your Mac yet, start with the step-by-step installation tutorial.

Why playing TFT on a keyboard changes the game

TFT is a game of seconds. At the end of a round you have to reroll the shop, buy, place and reposition before combat starts. On touch, or with a trackpad alone, every action costs a cursor round-trip; on a keyboard, rerolling and buying XP become instant left-hand reflexes while your right hand manages the board with the mouse. That is exactly how PC players operate, and it is why the D and F shortcuts became standards there.

  • Reroll and buy XP without moving the cursor: you work the shop blind.
  • Less strain than a trackpad: the repetitive actions move to the keyboard.
  • The same reflexes as the PC client: nothing to unlearn if you come from League of Legends.

The default keys in OSFT Launcher

From your very first match, controls are mapped out of the box: nothing to configure before playing. The two most frequent actions in the game reuse the shortcuts from Riot’s PC client.

  • D: refresh the shop (reroll), the action you will repeat most in any game.
  • F: buy 4 XP, to level up on tempo.
  • Mouse or trackpad: buy by clicking shop cards, drag and drop units between bench and board, sell.
  • Side toolbar: keyboard, screenshot, sounds and rotation stay one click away, without leaving the match.

Drag actions (moving or selling a unit) naturally stay on the mouse: the left-hand-keyboard, right-hand-mouse combination is what makes the game flow, just like on PC.

Customizing your mapping: the visual editor

Every touch zone on screen can receive a key. OSFT’s keymapping editor is fully visual: you drag a key chip onto a game button, and it is mapped. No configuration file to write, no syntax to learn.

  • Built-in visual editor: a key drops straight onto the game button.
  • Positions stored as screen fractions: your profile works at any resolution, from a MacBook Air to an external display.
  • Mapping editable on the fly, mid-game: try a shortcut during the carousel, adjust it next round.

The shortcuts we recommend adding

Beyond D and F, a few extra mappings save time in every buy phase. Here is a proven base to adapt to your habits:

  1. 1Keys 1 to 5 on the five shop slots: buy a champion without aiming at its card.
  2. 2A key to collapse and reopen the shop, to read the enemy board unobstructed.
  3. 3A key on the traits panel, to check your active synergies in one motion.
  4. 4A key per opponent (right-hand column) if you scout a lot in ranked.

Start light: D, F and the shop keys already cover the essentials. Add the rest gradually; since the editor opens mid-game, every match is a chance to refine.

Keyboard vs touch: what it changes in ranked

On mobile, even perfect decisions are limited by finger precision and screen size. On a keyboard with a large Mac display, you scout faster, reroll faster at the end of the round, and make fewer placement mistakes. That comfort is not cosmetic: it shows directly in tight rounds where everything happens in the last three seconds. Frequently asked questions

What are the default TFT keys on Mac with OSFT?

The mapping is ready out of the box from your first match: D refreshes the shop (reroll) and F buys XP, just like on Riot’s PC client. Everything else plays with the mouse or trackpad.

Can I change the shortcuts mid-game?

Yes. The keymapping editor opens at any time, even during a match: drag a key onto a game button and the change applies immediately.

Does the mapping work on an external display or another resolution?

Yes. Key positions are stored as screen fractions: the same profile works on the MacBook display, an external monitor, or any other resolution.

Can I play with the mouse only, without keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Every in-game action remains clickable, just like on the mobile version. The keyboard is an extra comfort, not a requirement.

Do I need to set anything up before my first match?

No. The essential controls are mapped by default on first launch. Customization is available but entirely optional.
